|Animal ID: DifferentShenzie (female)|
This is Shenzi, she is different then most dogs because of her breeding and her past. she is a mix of Chinese crested and terrier. she weighs about 32 pounds. She was born with angular deformities of her feet. (Her toes are all webbed together) This is a birth defect due to over breeding. this makes her have a Hyena appearance. Her only need is to keep her toenails cut, due to her defect her nails will grow into her flesh and at weird angles which will cause discomfort. Her story: Shenzi was found tied in overgrowth on a property in north west Ga. with no shelter, food or water during a drug raid. The animals were almost over looked due to the over growth and junk in the yard. Shenzi's feet and skin were in horrible condition and she was unable to move around very much. She was taken by animal control to our vet who provided the best of care and treatment for her. It took a while for shenzi to make improvements but she is strong willed and became determined to over come her abuse and neglect. Today Shenzi is doing great, she lives indoors with several other fosters dogs of various sizes and breeds, and does well with them all. She is doing great with her house training, she is crate trained, but prefers to crash on dog beds in a room with others. Shenzi is shy and timid in the beginning but once she feels comfortable she is very loving and affectionate. Medically nothing can be done to correct her feet issue that would not cause her extreme pain and discomfort, so we have chosen to leave her as she was meant to be. As long as her toe nails are kept trimmed and she walks on soft ground she will be fine. She is able to walk on rough footing but it causes her to move slowly and can be uncomfortable at times. Sheni (nickname) would love to find her 'human' to share the rest of her life with. she would also love a nice grassy fenced yard to run and play in. :) For more information send us a inquiry or complete an application on our website www.nwgak9rescue.org (Less)

Chinese Crested Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Chinese Crested is a rare breed that is generally hairless. Chinese Cresteds are playful, loving, and great with children. Rough play may irritate the skin of a Chinese Crested. Chinese Cresteds have a lot of energy and need plenty of exercise, but are well suited to apartment life. Dog sweaters are helpful to Chinese Cresteds when it is cold outside.
